Child and Adolescent therapist in Chiswick, West London
I'm Patricia Rogers, a certified play therapist and counsellor based in West London, dedicated to supporting children, adolescents, and their families.
My journey began 15 years ago as a childminder, where I created a nurturing environment for babies and young children. My goal was to provide a strong foundation for their growth, fostering happiness, independence, and resilience. I worked closely with families, addressing their needs and ensuring their children received the best start in life.
Over the past five years, I have been supporting children through individual and group therapy sessions in mainstream schools. Additionally, I have served as a play therapist for a charity, aiding young victims of abuse and domestic violence.
During my time in early years education, I noticed that some children struggled with overwhelming emotions and behaviours that hindered their ability to learn and thrive. This realization drove me to deepen my understanding and ability to assist them.
As an Early Years consultant, I gained insights into child development, attachment theory, and the neuroscience behind childhood growth. However, I realized I needed more than just theoretical knowledge; I wanted practical tools to help these children navigate their feelings and heal from emotional challenges.
It was essential to me that the training I pursued was grounded in a robust framework to safeguard the children I work with. This led me to play therapy, where I completed postgraduate training that aligns with Government regulations for mental health services.
I trained at Leeds Beckett University and hold a postgraduate diploma in the Integrative Holistic model of play therapy from the Academy of Play and Child Psychotherapy. This program is uniquely validated by clinical outcomes.
I am a registered member of Play Therapy UK (PTUK), the Play and Creative Arts Therapists Register, accredited by the Professional Standards Authority, which oversees Health and Social Care regulators in the UK. I am also DBS checked, GDPR compliant, and carry professional liability insurance. I adhere to the highest ethical standards and receive regular clinical supervision.
Additionally, I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
I have always believed that play is an essential part of childhood, and it remains crucial even as we grow older. Through play, children can explore and express a range of emotions, learn to self-regulate, and develop a stronger sense of self. Play offers them a safe space to rehearse real-life situations, helping them respect themselves, take responsibility for their actions, and understand that their feelings are valid.
I am committed to helping children and young people feel secure, happy, and empowered to enjoy their childhood and lead fulfilling lives.
